About me

(No, I’m not from Switzerland. I just like that photo. And yes, I took it.)

If you’ve made it this far, you probably already know my name—but just in case: I’m Jenni Sohn. I have a bit of an unusual career trajectory; I started as a copy editor at a financial newspaper in Seoul, Korea, and eventually headed to design school in New York City because I’ve always been a visually inclined person. After finishing my MFA at Parsons, I transitioned into interactive design.

At the Associated Press, I started as a multimedia producer. For the past few years, I’ve worked exclusively for the business news desk. During that time, I learned to wrangle FactSet, Python, and Excel, leveraging my design expertise to turn complex financial data into visual narratives. As a "newsperson," I don’t just handle the aesthetics; I process data, conduct research, and send a lot of emails. I’ve also been known to pick up a digital brush to create illustrations for stories.

I’ve lived in Brooklyn since long before it was "hip"—back when my neighborhood was mostly feather mattress warehouses. I’m fluent in Korean and English, and I’m currently working on my French.
